Web Inferface
Q: I've forgotten my password.
A: Please contact Controlant Support at support@controlant.com.
Q: Changes have been made but I can‘t see them in the web interface.
A: Refresh the page and/or log in again.
Q: As a user, what can I see and/or do in the web interface?
A: There are three access levels:
- View: The user can view the information but can not do any changes.
- View and change: The user can view the information and change rules and recipients for alarms.
- Administrator: The user can view the informatin, change rules and recipients for alarms, create new users, create groups and add users to groups.
Q: I have a new employee who needs an access.
A: Contact the Admin.
I you are the Admin, choose the Admin tab in Interface. You can see the groups, the servers and the clients. Scroll all the way down to Users. In the bottom right corner is the tab Add user. Put in username, email, first name, last name and type of permission. The new user will get an automatic link to choose password. Note that the Admin does NOT choose password for new user.
Q: Is it possible to have two or more Admins?
A: Yes.
Q: I have a problem viewing/working in the interface.
A: First, Please make sure you are using a browser that we officially support:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 9 or above for grp.controlant.com; version 10 or above for scm.controlant.com)
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome (version 30 or above) – recommended for optimal performance (Latest version)
- Mozilla Firefox (version 10 or above)
Other browsers may work fine, but we do not test on other browsers than the ones above, so use them at your own risk.
If you are using an officially supported browser and are still having problems, try the following in order until problem no longer persists:
- Try doing a hard-refresh and see if it solves the problem (Ctrl+F5 in most browsers on Windows, Shift+Cmd+R on Mac).
- Log out and then log back in to the interface.
- Empty your browser's Temporary Internet Files cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete in most browsers, select "Cached Images and Files" (Chrome), "Temporary Internet Files and website files" (IE) or similiar – clearing passwords, history, form data etc. is not necessary), then reload the interface.
- Tip: You can skip this step by trying to open the interface in an "incognito" or "private" window – if it works in this window, perform the above step to fix the Interface in all normal windows as well.
- If using Microsoft Internet Explorer or Edge, please check your browser's security settings (Internet Options > Security)
- If Security level is set to High, the interface will not work properly. If you are unable to lower it (or if your IT department won't let you), see if you can get https://*.controlant.com added to the Trusted Sites list
- If all this fails, please support@controlant.com.
Q: How do I rename a device in the interfac
A: See here: Rename device or sensor
Q: Can I control what information users can access?
A: Yes. When creating a group each user gets special access to individual group/s. The user can only view the group/s s/he has been granted access to by an Admin.
Loggers
Q: Logger does not connect to Gateway. Why?
A: We recommend you go through this checklist:
- Is the antenna on the logger?
- Is the antenna orientation optimal? See 1.3.3 Challenging Installations for guidelines.
- Is anything obstructing the signal path between loggers and Gateway?
- Is there GPRS connection in the facility?
- Do other loggers get connection?
- Do cell phones work?
Q: What is the difference between:
- 03.01 logger
- 03.02 logger
A: Logger 03.01 is an internal temperature logger. Logger 03.02 is an internal temperature and humidity logger.
...
A: Logger may appear to have good contact with Gateway but when looking at historical data points nothing appears. This could indicate that the communication between logger and Gateway is marginal. Under marginal signal conditions the loggers is able to see the Gateway but unable to lock on and deliver its data. Try to improve communication link between logger and Gateway (see recommendations in 1.3.1 General Wireless Setup). If problem persists please contact support@controlant.com.
Q: When there is an alert, does the logger send an update to the cloud immediately and send the email alert to the customer or does it wait till the hourly upload?
A: Please refer to: Set Temperature Warnings.
Q: Why there is a difference in receiving data when it comes to temperature and humidity?
A: When there is bad signal quality the temperature signal has priority over the humidity signal.
Q: For how long does a temperature logger store data?
A: For up to 27 days.
Q: For how long does a temperature/humidity logger store data?
A: For up to 14 days.
Q: How long is battery life in loggers?
A: Environment conditions affects the battery life but they should last for 3 to 4 years depending on device. See 1.2 Specifications for details.
Q: How often do the loggers have to be calibrated?
A: This depends on the application. Some customers require yearly calibration.
...
Q: Gateway is not communication with cloud but is connected to electricity and blinking normally (every 5 sec).
A: We recommend you go through this checklist:
- Is the anntenna correctly connected?
- Is there a GPRS connection in the location of the gateway?
- Is it possible to move the gateway to a place with better GPRS connection?
- Unplug gateway, wait for 60 sec and plug in again.
Q: How long does the battery backup in a Gateway last for when mains power is lost?
A: Up to 6 hours in a Facility Monitoring Gateway.
Q: How many loggers can connect to one Gateway?
A: Gateways delivered from August 1 2016 can connect to up to 40 loggers, subject to conditions. Gateway delivered before August 1 2016 can connect up to 20 loggers, subject to conditions. Note that if the Gateway is 3G and delivered before August 1 2016 can be upgraded to up to 40 loggers. Please contact support@controlant.com for confirmation.
Alerts & Reports
Q: When there is an alert, does the logger send an update to the cloud immediately and send the email alert to the customer or does it wait till the hourly upload?
A: The logger is measuring every minute but logging every 10 minutes to memory. If a measurement is out of bounds the logger “wakes up” and an alert is sent immediately.
Q: If I receive an alert for missing data, will the system still send out alerts if there is a temperature excursion as long there is a connection between logger and Gateway?
A: Yes.
Q: If the system is logging every 10 minutes, can I verify shorter excursions in the Web Interface?
A: The logger is measuring every minute but logging every 10 minutes to memory. If a measurement is out of bounds the logger “wakes up” and an alert is sent immediately. Since the logging takes place every 10 min, excursions shorter than that will not be visible in Web Interface but alarms will be sent and the excursion will be in report.
Q: How are Temperature Warnings set?
A: See: Set Temperature Warnings
Q: How many recipents can receive alarms?
A: There can be 3 sms recpipents and 4 email recipents.
Q: Is it possible for persons to receive alerts at different hours?
...
Q: What is the difference between Data missing alerts and Temperature alerts?
A: Data missing alerts arrive when there is no communication between Gateway and logger for a specific period of time (which is defined in settings). That does not mean that the temperature has had an excursion, only that the data is not delivered.
When loggers is back in connection with a Gateway it will deliver data. Data is stored for approximately 27 days in a temperature logger.
Temperature alerts is for excursion in temperature.
Q: A change has been made in the warning settings, is it possible to see who did the changes?
...
Q: Is there an extra charge for each sms alert or is it normal mobile telephone charge?
A: There are no extra charges.
