General overview
Controlant Vehicle monitoring solution is a robust system to monitor temperature in a vehicle as well showing location of the vehicle on a map. If the loggers (and the gateways if installed in the vehicle) are grouped together, using the vehicle number, it is possible to get an full overview of the vehicles location and monitor the temperature in the cargo area in the user interface.
IMPORTANT
It is important that the installation is done by professional and with respect of physics and signal theories. Please have the following in mind and follow:
To ensure the best Cellular and GPS signal quality, the gateway cellular antenna and GPS antennas should be installed outside of the car at the highest point.
The gateway itself must NOT be under the vehicle dash board between signal and current copper wires. It will reduce the RF signal quality between the gateway and the logger
RF and Cellular communication are controlled by physics. If metal and/or liquid is in the signal way, the signal quality is reduced heavily. In many cases, a bad installation can lead to communication failures.
It is important that the installation is done by a professional so the signal quality of the devises is maximized.
Possible vehicle setup
There are three possible setups for vehicle monitoring but they are:
Gateway in the truck/tractor wheelhouse and loggers in cargo area
Gateway and logger in trailer
Gateway at warehouse and loggers in the vehicle
