SCM v2.24.0 Release Announcement

This release simplifies life for the user and lays the groundwork for upcoming releases. We are working on detection capabilities to automatically detect loggers that should be delivered but have not yet been due to operational errors, poor connectivity, etc.

An overview of all features and improvements is listed below:

The logger’s calibration certificate is available in the SCM user interface

Description: To improve access to calibration certificates for anyone with access to the SCM, the loggers' last calibration certificate is made available through the “Loggers” tab.

The link to the calibration certificate is embedded in the “last calibration” date.

Requirement impact:

NEW:

  • SCMRS-558: Users can access the last calibration certificates.

Impacted:

  • SCMRS-521: The logger details show the last calibration date.

User impact:

The change does not have any impact on the existing user workflows in the SCM UI.

The duration of share shipment links can be configured

Description: To provide flexibility to our customers and users who want to share shipment links valid for the entire lifetime of the shipment. This use case has been raised several times, and users are doing a workaround by generating the link multiple times for some shipments.

A demonstration of the change in the user interface is shown below. Users can select the “share shipment” as before.

Once the “share shipment” window opens up, users can change the validity duration by using the added drop-down. The default will remain as 7 days.

Requirement impact:

NEW:

  • SCMRS-577: The duration of share shipment links can be configured.

Impacted:

  • SCMRS-344: Users are able to temporarily share shipment information through UI access with external users via email.

  • SCMRS-469: It is possible to configure an account and allow non-users to add comments to shipments via the Share Shipment link.

User impact:

Users that were able to generate a share shipment link can now modify the duration of the shared shipment link. The user flow remains the same.

Users can reset their passwords

Description: There has not been a password reset option in the SCM user interface. This release adds this option and allows users to reset their passwords.

See below how the change is implemented in the user interface.

To start the password reset process, the user must enter their username.

The user will receive an email containing a link to a page for a password reset.

Requirement impact:

NEW:

  • SCMRS-557: Users can reset their password.

User impact:

No impact on existing workflows. Users now have the option to reset their passwords and do not need to contact Controlant Support for that issue.

Delivery automation

Description: With this release, we are laying the groundwork for a new functionality that enables the automatic delivery of loggers based on predefined criteria. There will be no user-facing changes in this release and no impact on shipment data.

This functionality will be configurable, so it will be up to every customer to opt in. Delivery automation is intended to capture “out-of-flow” scenarios, e.g., when a user doesn’t press the stop button, there is poor connectivity or manual upload is required. The delivery automation stops the monitoring automatically at the correct time, which leads to the faster generation of the shipment summary report. It also reduces the risk of “false excursion” after the logger has been removed from the shipment.

We plan to use the upcoming quarter to evaluate the effectiveness of the new functionality by monitoring internal events and comparing suggested delivery timestamps to actual delivery timestamps of loggers. The goal is to have a selection of delivery options (or rules) available with the next quarterly release. They will be introduced in more detail in advance.
